TURKEY SEES A DIP IN THE NEW CASES

Turkey witnessed a slight drop in the new cases as the country reported 50,678 Covid-19 cases, including 2548 symptomatic patients yesterday.

Amidst the increase in the cases, Turkish government had announced weekend curfew.  As a result of the lesser mobility, the cases have reduced from 56,000 (reported on April 9).

The total caseload in Turkey stands at 3,849,011. Whereas 33, 939 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic.

As per the data, Turkey has administered 18.5 million vaccine doses till now.

10.9 million people have been given the first dose so far, while 7.58 million people have been given the second dose.

Special measures have been taken in the country as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan approaches. Weekend curfew and other restrictions have been announced in high-risk areas.

According to the latest figures, more than 41.5 million coronavirus tests have been conducted in Turkey till date.

As many as 30,194 more patients in the country have won the battle against coronavirus, bringing the total number of recoveries to over 3.3 million.

The total number of critical patients in the country has risen to 2,824.

As per the figures compiled by the U.S.’ Johns Hopkins University, over 135.5 million cases have been reported worldwide, with more than 77 million recoveries.
